What's New

SuperCharger

We’ve taken a little diversion from our usual classical hot rod pursuits. Dodge called and asked if we would build up one of their promotional vehicles Hot Rod Conspiracy style. We are always up for a different challenge so we said sure. They sent out a Charger (a particular challenge for us since we don’t ordinarily relate to 4 doors) and said go to work.

We decided on a high speed road racing theme, since these cars are a great platform with their stiff unibody, 4 wheel independent suspension and strong 6.1 Hemi. We re-calibrated the suspension, added some Mopar upgrade parts, took it in the wind tunnel to tune the aerodynamics, and upped the power to over 600 flywheel horsepower with an Arizona Speed and Marine supercharger installation. Finally, Chrysler design sketched us a trick paint scheme with graphics in “Snakeskin Green”, complimented for show and go with giant Zenetti wheels and Vredestein tires.

First stop for the car was the Chrysler display at SEMA where it was a big hit. In order to prove that this car is just as much show as go, we took it to the Nevada Open Road Challenge where Matt and friend Rob Kinnan (Editor Hot Rod Magazeme) spent the weekend running the various events. This is a pretty cool deal. For the main event, they shut down a 90 mile segmant of highway outside of Las Vegas and let you run as fast as you can, depending on your safety equipment. Pretty much everyone’s dream.

Well the car performed flawlessly, but the main event was cancelled before we could get off the starting line. It’s a long frustrating story actually, you can read Rob’s description here. Anyway, we ended up running the road pretty quickly anyway and had a great weekend.

British Invasion

We also completed a great hot rod recently, we call “British Invasion”. It answers the question of what would you do if you were a frustrated hot rodder living in England in the 60s with a ’32 roadster (yes Henry exported them), but no wrecked ’57 Chevy or Chrysler from which to rob the drive-train? I know this question is a burning one in most folks minds. You would find a new V8 Rolls to use. Our car features a V8, rear axle, gages, and many other parts from the Rolls, and is trimmed in burled walnut, real Connelly leather and Wilton wool carpet. It’s a real gentlemen’s hot rod. Before it was even completed it got Runner Up in a crowded class at the LA Roadster show, and Runner Up to our own Red Ram Special at the Portland Roadster show. It’s been shot for Hot Rod Magazine and will be featured soon.
